"My son doesn't like to take showers," Mike's mother revealed to me. We were sitting at the kidney table in my classroom, finishing up our parent teacher conference. After hearing this revelation I quickly glanced over at Mike, who was seated next to her, and watched him as he began to squirm in his seat uncomfortably.
"YES I DO MOM!"
But Mom wasn't finished.
"No, Mikey, you don't. I always say, shower and put a clean shirt on Mike! Look at your teacher, she's always dressed nice. What does she think of you when you go to school with your dirty face and shirt, and your hair uncombed? And do you know what he tells me?" She looks at me then, exasperated, "He says, MOM...Ms. Hankins will love me no matter what!"
And after hearing this...I know I have done at least one thing right in my classroom.

The End of Procrastination
After great trepidation I have finally chosen a title for my blog. I thought that once I chose a title, I would be ready to blog away. Here I go. On second thought, since I have taken this giant step of choosing a title and actually typing a few words on an actual blog, I think I deserve to treat myself to a little break from all this hard work. Plus, Grey's Anatomy is on in twenty minutes!
At least I have finally broken out of the procrastination phase!!
